The people who collect sports memorabilia take their hobby very seriously. There is no reason for them not to, after all many of them have spent thousands of dollars and a ton of time invested in the hobby. The people who get into such hobbies usually do so because of a childhood love of the game or of certain players. They start to collect certain items that remind them of those teams or players or maybe that represent special times in the teams history or that of the child themselves. In addition it has always brought them joy as a child so for some of these people, getting back into it is nothing more than trying to recapture that old joy.
This is why some people call it a time of reliving your youth. While that may make some sense it is not always the reason why people get back into such an activity or hobby. Sometimes it is just as simple as they really love it and had a darn great time searching for specific cards, looking through their massive collection and seeing what the overall value was.
For still others this hobby might be nothing more than a way to earn money. Some people see that there is a fortune to be made in some of these cards and if they could only collect the right ones in the right condition they might get rich without having to really work a day in their lives. Because collection is hard but it is way different than working a factory job.
Once they feel confident that they have their collection as safe as it can be they will then be able to relax at least a little bit. They will maybe store the things away and maybe they will show them off. Either way they will feel safe and secure in the knowledge that nothing bad can happen to their most favorite things.
It does not matter what the reasons are, all that matters is that you keep your collection safe and in good condition. This is why baseball card cases were invented in the first place.
