By April Briggs

For a parent who has attended a camp during their younger years they know the many benefits that they had by attending the camps. A camp usually gives a child an environment that is different from the one he is used to. They usually help children in developing their social skills and also growing their friendship circles. During their stay they have schedules that are filled with interesting activities that they will enjoy. It is a way for them to learn to be independent since they will be away from their parents. Attending a girls leadership camp has many benefits.

In the camps there are so many physical activities that they usually engage in. Some of these activities includes swimming, hiking climbing and even running. It is a great change from what they are used to in their daily routine. When they have to go to school they usually spend the better part of their day seated and the camps usually provide a chance for them to be physically active.

They get to engage themselves in many activities in the establishment. Some activities are competitions while others are not competitions. The non-competitive activities usually help them in many ways. They help them in boosting their self-esteem because they do not feel like a looser if they are not able to complete.

In some of the camps there are strict rules on the use of gadgets such as phones and laptops when in the compound. They are either prohibited completely or they have limited number of hours that they can use them. This helps the children to keep off technology that can be helpful. They get to engage in other activities like socialism with other children.

Everyone is usually born with a talent or ability in them. Some of these abilities and talents are not explored and they end up being wasted. Attending these institutions usually give young ladies a platform for them to nurture their talents and even grow them. If one has a natural ability to lead they get an opportunity to try their leadership skills under the instructions of the teachers there.

Camps help the children discover who they are. In the institutions they get to make their own decision without being influenced by parents and also teachers. They have to learn to manage their daily choices in a safe environment. Some may find it difficult at first but with time they learn to embrace the new independence in their life.

The social skills they learn from the camp are one of the main benefits that they can get to enjoy. They usually share a cabin with other girls and they have to learn to respect each other. When they go they join a community of other children where they have to cooperate in doing their daily chores. This teaches them the importance of team work.

In their day to day lives the children might not be in a position to reconnect with nature. This might be because they live in an urban setting. In the camps they get great out door experiences.
