Each type of tennis lesson will serve its purpose.

Playing and learning tennis in a group allow one to mingle and socialise with other people. This is an important way of getting to know people. Apart from having something in common, learning tennis together can enhance one's self esteem as well. One will also be spurred on by others when learning tennis together.

One of the main benefits of learning tennis in a group is in the friendship which develops as the lessons progress. One can observe and learn from one another. The friendships built up can further assist in making the tennis lessons exciting and fun.

All of us would like to learn tennis as soon as possible. Without any push, one may not be spurred on to perform at a higher level. However, in a group setting, the tennis lessons can be more intense with more people pushing one another to succeed.

Private individual lessons will tend to be more strenuous as there is only one student. This may be a deterrent to someone who is not fit. Therefore, group tennis lessons can be more accommodative for someone who is has not exercised for a while.

Following joining a group tennis lesson, the participant would have bonded and could practice with one another in their own time. This will allow better improvements in the student's tennis game.

Given the high cost of living in Singapore, learning tennis in a group environment would reduce the cost for each individual as the per lesson fee is spread out across more people. In Singapore, each person can expect to pay from $20-25 per hour for a group lesson as compared to having to fork out at least $70 per hour for private individual lessons.

Learning tennis in a group may be seen as safer as one is surrounded by many people. This is in contrast to private lessons which has only the coach and you. Loneliness and perhaps a sense of self consciousness may set in and this may have a negative mental effect on you learning the game.

Group tennis lessons tend to be more regimented with respect to its timing and schedule. Typically, lessons are conducted after working hours in order to facilitate more working adults to join the group tennis lessons.
